Generate heat from an electric bulb?

What will happen if i take a normal house bulb (100W), break the glass nicely, and connect the filament inside ,to a 12V DC battery.. will it heat enough to boil water, or how much heat will it produce, can i do something to increase the heat? or do i suppose the filament will just melt?
